Working primarily on black velvet, Sania Nascarella, born in Geneva (2001), is teasing something elusive, moments of light and texture hovering between presence and absence. Her practice questions pictures, how they emerge, how they dissapear. Something here recalls Eleonora Bitterli’s idea of images as liminal presences—like shadows that “suggest a past event but refuse to reveal its full story.”  that haunt our vision, neither fully there nor entirely gone. The softness of the velvet absorbs and holds light in ways that is kind of cinematic.
—dark, mysterious, suggestive. Images and titles lingering in the mind like an unfinished sentence.
